Giant Crow is a rock band from Hamburg (Germany) whose versatile and multifaceted music draws on influences from alternative country, indie, and even post-punk and neo-psychedelic.
Unconventional sounds and arrangements meet catchy melodies and powerful hooks that are glued together by the imposing voice of singer and banjo player Nikolas Kuhl, whose poetic, even mystical lyrics oscillate between apocalyptic spirituality and ironic departures. Justin Jardine conjures sounds on the electric guitar that have their place in both Nashville and post-rock. Judith Krischke’s deep tones range from jazz and folk to walls of evil distortion. A classically trained violinist, Maline Zickow blurs genre lines in Giant Crow.
The unrestrained joy the musicians have in playing is felt by audiences as they get lost in the electro-tinged post-rock finale of ‘City Lights’, headbang to ‘Hands’, and stomp their feet to the country shuffle banger ‘Anthem’.

For fans of 16 Horsepower/Wovenhand, Emma Ruth Rundle, Manchester Orchestra, Dry the River, To Kill a King, Bear’s Den, Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys, and Nick Cave.

Press:
“Like the distant shores of America, bloody and wild, like Cormac McCarthy, a feverish mixture of Hank Williams, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Joy Division.”
Chris Airoldi

“While sounds of folk and rock prevail stylistically, this band brings together nuances from alternative and progressive while giving a nod to post-rock. This combination sets these Hamburg musicians apart from others in the genre.”
Gezeitenstrom Musikmagazin

Giant Crow is a reboot of the band ‘Raindance Kid’.
